The Sperry Marine Engineering Team based in New Malden in the UK and Hamburg in Germany, have responsibility for the development and maintenance of Sperry Marine’s wide product portfolio, and ambitious development roadmap.
We are a truly multidisciplinary team, with engineers from electronics, software, mechanical, system engineering and system test backgrounds all working in integrated teams to develop best in class products and solutions.
To support our ambitious roadmap and growth plans we are actively increasing the size our teams, creating a great opportunity for a skilled Junior / Graduate Hardware Engineer to join us!
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Post Development Support (PDS) and Engineering Field Issues for HW
- Support design of electronics for new projects
- PCB layout design
- New Schematics design and modification of older schematics
- Obsolescence management
- Liaise with Electronics Design Team, System Testing, Software Team and Supply Chain.
- Full Hands-on development
- Work with Hardware Chief Engineer, Delivery Team Lead and Engineering Manager
- Type approval testing and preparation of test rigs
- Preparation of High level technical documentation
- Create technical descriptions for Publications (manuals and datasheets)

Skills & Experience
- Understanding of electronics schematics and electronic design process
- Able to check drawings, documents and BOM’s
- To write good level of Technical Documentation
- Understands Manufacturing processes and techniques
- Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance
- Understanding of test methods for Shock, Vibration, Ingress, Environmental (Hot, Cold & Humidity), EMC
- Knowledge of professional eCAD software (preferably PADS PRO)
- Knowledge of electronics simulation tools (preferably LTSpice)
- Understanding of marine navigation equipment, and marine radar (optional)
- Some electronics development experience
- Degree (BSc) in Electronics Engineering
- Good communicator and able to influence thinking/get point across
- Able to present and summarise complex information to a wide audience
- Self-sufficient and self-motivated approach
- Able to assess priorities and order their own work
- Able to work in tight deadlines
