Title: Junior Laboratory Technician
Salary: £26,410 per annum
Work Type: Permanent/Full Time
Shift pattern: Mon - Fri across 3 shift patterns based on a weekly rota (08:30-17:30 or 07:15-16:15 or 10:15-19:15)
Overview
Search is currently working with an innovative and progressive beverage manufacturing business. My client has a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Lab Technician with a great passion for Quality Assurance to join their Quality Assurance team and will be reporting directly to the Quality Manager.
This position is ideally suited to a candidate who can collaborate with all Quality Assurance team members to ensure that the products produced are of the highest standard.
Key duties and responsibilities of a Junior Lab Technician:
*Maintain good Laboratory practice and maintenance of high standards of safety
*Collecting, managing and processing samples according to the sampling plan given
*Yeast health management (including cultivation and propagation), when required
*Preparing stock solutions and media, inoculating and incubating samples
*Simultaneously dealing with multiple support activities and requests
*Working on becoming a cross-functional QC Lab team member (across phys-chem, microbiology, sensory)
*Cleaning and decontaminating the Laboratory
*Helping when required to maintain all Quality standards within the Laboratory
*Being part of projects and a project support team member
*Recording data efficiently
*Producing daily reports of physical-chemical and microbiological results for all sites (or others if asked)
*Efficiently communicating the Laboratory results and main constraints in the Department to the internal team during relevant meetings or via the internal messaging system
*Managing Lab stock and resources (maintenance of incoming inspection plan)
The ideal candidate/requirements:
*Bachelor's degree in Brewing Science, Biology, Chemistry or another relevant field; or relevant technical experience
*Evidence of effective communication within and between teams
* Can work efficiently and with incredible attention to detail.
* Can think and operate with initiative and troubleshoot wherever necessary.
*Is flexible with their working hours and duties
*Is quick to learn
*Has project investigation related to food or beverages
*Has experience or contact with the brewing industry
*All Lab staff should be working towards their IBD certificate or equivalent
