Job description

Do you want to be involved in an exciting new project that will connect regenerative agriculture and wildlife surveys?

Devon Wildlife Consultants (DWC) is involved in an exciting new partnership project called ‘Connecting People and Landscapes’.

Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) is Devon’s leading wildlife conservation charity, with over 36,000 members, 350 regular volunteers, 100 staff and 63 nature reserves. We are one of the larger locally based organisations that collectively make up The Wildlife Trusts. DWT has pioneered the reintroduction of beavers in England and the restoration of internationally rare habitats like Culm Grassland.

Devon Wildlife Consultants (DWC) is the commercial arm of Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT). Profits from the company are donated to Devon Wildlife Trust to help deliver its extensive programme of conservation, learning and engagement activities.

This Junior Landscape Surveyor role has been created to encourage young and diverse talent into the conservation sector. We’re particularly interested in receiving applications from young people (aged 18-25) who are from ethnically diverse backgrounds, or who are living with a disability or are from low-income households.

You’ll get paid a good salary for a role that helps the environment, learn loads of skills to boost your CV and get experiences to help you in your future career. This is a unique opportunity to try something new, and to take a first step on a career path where you can make a real difference. The natural environment needs you!

We hope you will join us on this exciting journey!

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Agile working arrangements including home working
  • Flexitime system
  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
  • Death in Service cover
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Training and development opportunities

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 8 months, based at Aldens Court, Exeter.

The post will involve fieldwork on farms across South Devon, and the opportunity to work occasional days from South Devon National Landscape offices at Follaton House, Totnes. Access to a shared work vehicle will be available.

Interviews are being held on 24 April 2024 at Follaton House, Totnes.

We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and abilities who meet the essential criteria for this role. We are an inclusive organisation that is seeking to involve more diverse audiences in our work.

You can download an application pack from www.devonwildlifetrust.org/jobs.

DWT is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in employment.
