JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting and performing full lifecycle engineering activities across a range of engineering projects which will contribute to the Nuclear New Build projects.

Your key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Support the design of systems and components that meet customer requirements.
• Formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
• Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety
• Alter and modify design to meet requirements customer requirements
• Work with the Senior Mechanical Engineer to estimate budget and scope of project
• Help to identify Risk and Opportunity
• Prepare product reports and documentation
• Engage in the learning and development of new theories or methods

MY PROFILE

Essential:

• You will have 6-12 months experience in a similar role or industry e.g. Mechanical Engineer or graduate Mechanical Engineer.
• You will hold a BEng or similar professional qualification in an engineering related field.
• You will have an understanding of safety legislation & safety culture.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral
• The ability to act with integrity
• The ability to work with a good degree of independence, using your own initiative and self-motivation.

Desirable:

• Understanding of materials
• Problem solving and finding solutions
• Ability to communicate complex topics in a simple and understandable way to a range of stakeholders
• Ability to analysing large amounts of data from various sources and take into consideration the viewpoints of numerous stakeholders (listening to understand) often with differing opinion in order to propose ways forwards balancing project risk
• Ability to influencing a broad mix of stakeholders
• Persistence and resilience
• SC Clearance or capable of achieving it.

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
