AddressRole: Junior / Mid-Level Hardware Design Engineer
Location: Nottingham (main office)
Salary: £35,000 approx
Job Purpose
Design and Develop New Product Hardware.
Specific Duties:
- Take primary responsibility for designing, creating and maintaining product circuit design & schematic capture (in accordance with specifications)
- Liaise with external contractors to ensure a full and proper flow of relevant information
- Report completed and ongoing tasks to line manager on regular basis
- Maintain documentation of activities, as appropriate
- Work closely with manufacturing operations to ensure seamless transition of design data to finished assembly
- Working closely with the purchasing function in terms of right first-time, cost-effective component selection and approval
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, suppliers and contractors at all times
- Assist with product VV&T, where required
- Support production with fault finding when products have failed functional testing, when required
- Any other duties, as deemed necessary
Essential
- BEng / BSc Engineering Degree with a grade of 2.1 or above and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- Proficient in Schematic Capture/PCB layout CAD packages such as Altium Designer.
- Strong understanding of power supply, analog and digital design.
- Familiar with wireless communications: Wi-Fi, LTE and IoT Protocols
- Familiar with communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART
- Good level of capability in Microsoft Office
Desirable
- Understanding of software engineering principles and languages (Embedded C, Python)
- Experience in Wireless design: ISM Band and RF Tuning
- Experience of regulatory compliance testing
- Previous experience in ISM band RF antenna tuning
- RED/CE testing
