Canopius is seeking a Junior Developer to join a growing development team, with a passion for improving processes and architecture, and for taking an active role in the implementation of new technologies. The role is based on the implementation of greenfield projects and the maintenance/enhancement of existing applications. The role is 80% development and 20% support, with the technology stack primarily MS, using C# (.NET framework and Core) and MS SQL server as the underlying database. The role offers the candidate the opportunity to develop across a full stack of technologies, work closely with business users, and gain a highly desirable combination of skills and experience.
Essential knowledge:
- Full Software Development Lifecycle experience (12 months+).
- ASP.NET and ASP .NET Core, including knowledge of the MVC paradigm.
- C#, Javascript, Typescript, JQuery, T-SQL, Entity Framework, LINQ.
- Appreciation of Object Oriented Programming, e.g. SOLID.
- Unit and Integration Testing.
- Azure DevOps, GIT, CI/CD.
- Experience working in an Agile working environment (Scrum) including backlog management, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- The ability to participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with the business to capture requirements.
- Highly developed attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of insurance terms and business practices.
- Appreciation of security principles in relation to software development, e.g. OWASP.
- Experience of automated testing.
- BSc degree in numerate discipline, e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering
