Purpose of Job:
Investigate and measure processes and help develop productivity and process improvements within the Mill.

Activities
Safety
- Ensure safe working practices are developed and maintained within area of responsibility and strive towards a goal of zero injuries
- Perform safety observations and share findings with Mill leadership team.
- Encourage the reporting of close calls
Main tasks
- Testing and understanding the different Papermaking Parameters.
- Support plant process improvement teams, and manage assigned basic process improvement projects, as required.
- Help develop, implement, and monitor Key Performance Indicators to drive continuous improvement.
- Help identify manufacturing best practices and good ideas to improve productivity.
- Work with the mill to establish Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) and Standard Operating Controls (S.O.C) to provide long-term sustainable improvements in the quality of products and services.
- Ensuring quality standards are achieved and consistently maintained
- Conduct plant assessments and margin improvement processes to identify improvement opportunities. Focus on machine stops and set-ups, conduct scrap studies, use S.M.E.D. system to improve productivity, cooperating within the team.
- Take part in the execution of Continuous Improvement Management methodologies
Quality
- Work with Quality team to identify/qualify/implement Customer focused improvements.
SPS (Sonoco Performance system / TPM)
- Involvement SPS implementation

- Productivity targets
- KPI’s including but not limited to Production volume, scrap, set-ups and minor stops
Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
Required
- Some Industry Experience, Preferably some exposure to a Processing or Production Facility.
- Excellent Analytical Skills
Desirable
- Process Engineering knowledge.
- Knowledge in Lean/Six Sigma concepts
Skills, Experience and Attitude
Skills:
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Minimum of 5 GCSE’s equivalents of A* - C
