Junior Process Engineer

Role

Responsible for a variety of process engineering activities that include identification and initiation of plant improvement projects, support of plant capital projects, technical support to production teams, resolution of all technical regulatory issues, and development/presentation of technical training.

Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of new or improved products/processes/techniques.

Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed supporting engineering tests/products/equipment.  Coordinates planning, organization, and implementation of engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates as specified by management.

Key Responsibilities

• Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed supporting engineering tests/products/equipment.  Coordinates planning, organization, and implementation of process engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates as specified by management
• The incumbent must manage multiple assignments while working closely with other staff members, production teams, and maintenance personnel.
• The position requires an ability to interpret on a broad basis, principles, theories, and concepts of a process engineering specialty. 
• Participates in production team activities. Provides guidance to Operations regarding process conditions and product campaign start-ups and transitions
• Required to be a part of the Manufacturing team and is expected to exhibit a high degree of cooperation/teamwork to maintain the most efficient operation of the plant. Must be flexible in work activities to support cross-functional department and position assignments.
• Develops a high level of technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated carbon cloth and stays current with new developments.
• Participates in the preparation of process reports, regulatory reports and process manufacturing instructions. Provides technical guidance and technical support for establishing raw material and final product specifications.
• Initiates and obtains approval for cost reduction projects. Coordinates and/or participates in the design, installation and start-up of new projects at the plant.
• Advises the sales team members to ensure that customer requirements are established, and that best product options and supplementary combinations are utilized.
• Provides cover for the QA function during periods of absence.
• Performs all duties in accordance with local safety and environment regulations.

Desired skills

• Degree or equivalent in a science subject.
• Determined nature, with ability to take responsibility.
• Effective internal and external communications skills
• Gas treatment plant or effluent plant experience is desirable.
• A good communicator who will integrate well in the small lab team
