As one of our Junior Procurement Partners is heading off on maternity leave soon, we are looking for an experienced Procurement professional to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract, based at our Doxford Park Sunderland head office to cover this period of leave.
The Procurement team have gone through a period of significant change, with a new 5-year procurement strategy, and the implementation of a new partnership approach to Procurement. In this key role, you will support the Procurement Partners with procurement across all business areas such as Gentoo Homes, Development, Asset including Repairs and Maintenance and non-construction related areas including Corporate Services, IT, Legal Services etc. This is an exciting role and would ideally suit a self-starter who is looking for a further challenge in their procurement career.

Provide proactive, responsive procurement services on tenders over £30K including the advertising of such tenders where it is appropriate and support the Procurement Lead and Procurement Partners for tenders over £120K.
Work collaboratively with the Procurement Analysts to ensure a “One Procurement Team” approach, deputising for the Procurement Analyst if required.
Prepare for and attend partnership meetings, ensuring our business partners feel supported and understand the roles each party to the procurement process has to play.
Undertake mini competitions for both capital and revenue purchases over £30K, complying with relevant framework agreements.
Support in the procuring of goods and services in line with the Group’s Financial Regulations, including the approval of orders on Ebis.
Comply with the procurement strategy, all policies, procedures and service-level agreements relating to Procurement.
Participate in annual spend analysis to determine priorities, and support in the creation of strategic sourcing strategies identified by that analysis.
Contribute to the monthly report as requested by the Procurement Lead.
Ensure that corporate, social and environmentally responsible issues are considered in all procurement activities undertaken.
Responsible for controlling and administering procurement agreements, catalogues and supply chain portal. Update all relevant systems and documentation every week to ensure all trackers are up to date.
Provide training to Gentoo Group and Gentoo Homes on procurement processes.
Ensure compliance with all related legislation.


What we are looking for:

You will ideally be educated to CIPS level 4 (Foundation Diploma), or actively working towards (or equivalent qualification).
You will have demonstrable experience with procurement projects that include successfully running tenders from start to finish from both a technical and commercial aspect.
With a good understanding of how to build and nurture positive internal relationships with senior management, key users, business stakeholders and suppliers.
An appropriate knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations 2015 is desirable.
You will also understand contract law, with the ability to draft contracts with minimal support from legal professionals.
