As a service we offer personalised assessment and treatment for service users with a primary diagnosis of a mental illness who may also have other complex needs around physical health. Some service users may also have a secondary diagnosis of a mild to moderate learning disability. The service users we provide care to are detained under the mental health act and may have history of offending behaviours some may also have failed in a number of previous placements.

What you will be doing
Your role as a junior registered Staff Nurse is to work under the supervision and alongside the hospital's Practice Nurse providing and delivering a high standard of nursing care, contributing to the ongoing assessment, providing, and monitoring care based on evidence and working in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.
The role will include working collaboratively with the Practice Nurse to ensure the physical health care needs are met for all service users.
Areas of support will include the below of which this list is not exhaustive.
Assistance with physical health clinics. Such as GP surgery's, dentistry, podiatry, and vaccination clinics.
The implementation and monitoring of physical health care plans.
Supporting with physical health promotions.
Attendance at hospital wide meetings.
Auditing within the physical health department as well as physical health equipment.
About the location:
The combination of 2 psychiatric intensive care wards and 9 medium and low secure units as-well as some rehabilitation flats at Thornford Park provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering our 143 patients in their recovery and rehabilitation.
Thornford Park has excellent internal and external therapeutic and recreational facilities. The unit has been designed and built with a focus on integrating current best practice in both environmental performance and clinical care, to deliver a bespoke therapeutic environment.
