Disclosure Scotland is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government, operating on behalf of Scottish Ministers, to perform an important safeguarding role for the people of Scotland. The work of Disclosure Scotland directly supports the Scottish Government’s National Outcomes for Children and Young People, Economy, Fair Work and Business, Communities and Human Rights.
To contribute to these, Disclosure Scotland is responsible for two primary services, managing and delivering the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and processing applications for disclosure certificates which enable safer recruitment decisions to be made by employers.

The role
Disclosure Scotlands PASS system is based on a microservice architecture hosted in the AWS cloud. The main technologies used for service development are Java, Spring Boot, Jaxrs, Jackson, Docker and MariadDB. For test automation we are using Junit, Cucumber, Spring Cloud Contract and Selenium. As a Junior Test Engineer you’ll be working in agile delivery team in close collaboration with Business Analysts, Testers, Architects, Platform Engineers, UI/UX designers and Product Owners to develop DS system according to business and user needs.
DDaT Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £5,000 DDaT pay supplement after a 3 months DDaT competency qualifying period. The payment will be backdated to your start date in the role. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review. This post is part of the Scottish Government DDaT profession. As a member of the profession, you will join the professional development scheme, currently BCS RoleModel plus. Responsibilities:

- Writing, debugging and refactoring test code.
- Working closely with software developers to reach a common understanding of the code base and test coverage at unit level.

Essential Criteria
1. Experience of writing automated system test and end to end test with use of Java and/or JavaScript, Selenium or other browser automation framework, BDD test tooling (Cucumber/Gherkin) and SQL (MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle) in a Linux based environment or cloud based (AWS).
2. Experience of test automation in CI/CD pipelines and knowledge of Continuous Integration process.
3. Proven self-management abilities and experience of proactive risk based decision making.
4. Experience of bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical.
