As a specialist in the marine insurance area, you should come from a P&I insurance company, with previous understanding about how this type of business operates, with a good insight to marine P&I underwriting. In an ideal world, someone who already has enjoyed some level of underwriting authority would be preferable, however for an experienced Assistant Underwriter, this could actualy offer a really good step up for someone keen to develop at the next stage of their career. However, at this level you must have at least 3-4 years having worked at a P&I provider – have significant AU responsiblity and absolutely ready for the step up.
