We are on a mission to be the partner of choice for developing people and their communities. Reed in Partnership is a public service provider specialising in skills training for the long-term unemployed, increasing employment opportunities by working with employers and providing youth services.

Working Ways is our name for the Intensive Personalised Employment Support service funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. The service provides one-to-one support and training to people with a disability. Our Key Workers help people to manage work around their specific disabilities and match their skills to a job role. We provide the service in partnership with Remploy. Intensive Personalised Employment Support is commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions.

What is the role about?

Key Workers are the front line of Reed in Partnership. The main purpose of the role is to provide intensive, personalised one-to-one support to unemployed jobseekers (our participants) with aim of finding and sustaining employment. You will also engage with employers and make local communities aware of the benefits of our service. Our participants are the lifeblood of our business and providing them with an excellent service is at the very core of the Key Worker role.

This role requires use of a car to meet participants across Sheffield

Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include

  • Meeting with participants, Identifying, diagnosing and supporting with barriers to work, specifically concerning health & disability and creating an appropriate and detailed action plan to meet goals.
  • Identifying and developing relationships with employers to establish suitable employment opportunities for participants. This will include community outreach work – promoting Reed in Partnership within the local community.
  • Providing Intensive 1 to 1 support to participants who will have complex and varied needs with the aim to move them closer to employment. Support is to be offered once a week as a minimum and ideally face to face.
  • Supporting participants and employers by providing in-work support with the aim of increasing sustainability of employment. This will be achieved through the continued application and use of a detailed action plan.
  • Supporting jobseekers with fundamental job search skills to include but not limited to: CV writing, job searching/application process, interview prep, skills training as well as providing mental/physical health and wellbeing support.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience and exposure to various vulnerable customer groups, ideally those with complex and varied additional needs.
  • Experience of working towards targets in a challenging environment.
  • Necessity to travel locally to meet customers and employers.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong planning and organisational skills with experience of working towards strict targets and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and IT skills with the ability to assess and diagnose barriers and devise personalised action plans to move participants closer to employment.
  • Experience of working within an environment governed by adherence to strict compliance and regulatory measures.
  • A minimum of 2 A Levels or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma in combination with GCSE English Language Grade B or above. If you do not possess this level of qualification, you will be required to achieve a Level 2 in a Literacy Assessment conducted at interview stage.
  • Prior experience of working in a similar employment support function is desirable but not essential.
