Contracts Available:
Full Time, Permanent - 40 hours per week.
Full Time, Fixed Term - 40 hours per week until September 2024

In January 2024, we acquired the 17th century Barnsley House hotel that is tucked away in the quintessential Cotswold’s village of Barnsley, just four miles from Cirencester. THE PIG – and The Village Pub offers guests a classic example of an English country garden that evolves with the seasons including a kitchen garden that will supply the produce found on our 25-mile menu.
Just like all THE PIG hotels, at THE PIG – and The Village Pub it will all start in the kitchen garden. The team are the original Home-Grown Heroes of everything we do. The aim is to grow as much produce on site as possible for use in the kitchens, the garden also acts as a show garden for our guests. We aim to use as many parts of the plants as possible and our garden team ensure there is always plenty of variety for the chefs to use 365 days per year.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our unique and dynamic team in overseeing the growth and functionality of the kitchen garden at our latest PIG within our growing litter.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Ensure the Kitchen Garden is well maintained and presentable for visiting guests.
- Interact with guests, providing a knowledgeable service.
- Caring of plants including planting, cultivation, weeding, dead heading, and hand pruning.
- Some animal husbandries may be required – THE PIG is home to pigs, chickens, and quails.
- Pest control
- Adhere to health and safety policy and practices.
- Experience of working in a productive kitchen garden growing seasonal produce is essential. Further in-role training and development will be provided. A real passion for gardening & guest relations is required.
