Job description

Cranleigh STEM has partnered exclusively with an exciting start-up business specialising in injectable skin treatments made entirely from the patients own cells. The company's mission is to provide a natural alternative to synthetic cosmetic treatments - ensuring there are no chemicals added to the procedure.

The company has successfully demonstrated proof of product and has acquired significant funding which will help launch the product initially to the UK market, before pushing further afield into Europe.

They are now recruiting for a Lab Manager to join its growing team to spearhead the development and launch of the product, whilst also managing regulatory liaison with partners in the UK and France.

Lab Manager responsibilities

  • Stay up to speed with the technology and industry trends, to then advise the company's governing body in scientific matters.
  • Executes the medical affairs activities and scientific projects based on the medical strategy and a plan of action, in close collaboration with other team members.
  • Be involved in the planning and development of the launch of products.
  • Oversight of the company's first laboratory and quality management system used to deliver services according to regulatory standards.
  • Take charge of technical team management including and recruitment training to ensure provision of the company's storage and manufacturing of products to clients.
  • Act as the company's scientific point of contact to communicate with customers, marketing team, as well as with upper management.
  • Represents quality management during audits related to areas of expertise.
  • Be point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders on technical matters.
  • Act as designated liaison for regulatory matters.

Lab Manager requirements

  • Degree-level qualification (ideally a PhD) in a relevant scientific field of study - biotechnology, biomedical, engineering etc.
  • Excellent clinical and scientific understanding of cell therapy and cell banking.
  • Ideally, a background gained in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry - acting as a technical matter expert.
  • Product launch experience.
  • Strong GMP background and understanding of industry standards.
  • Good understanding of Human Tissue Act and Human Tissue Authority requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand, analyse and communicate medical concepts concisely are required.
  • Ability to plan, manage and lead projects.
