Job description

Salary: £31,396 - £34,980
FTE: 0.2 (7 hours/week)
Term: fixed term (18 months)
Closing Date: Wednesday, 31 January 2024.
The Laboratory for Innovation in Autism invites applications for the post of Laboratory Administrator to support the research, scholarship and knowledge exchange of the laboratory team. The post holder will coordinate multiple strands of research with internal, national, and international partners. As the principal administrator and coordinator of laboratory projects, you will work closely with the Director (Prof. Jonathan Delafield-Butt) and Co-Directors (Prof. Phil Rowe, Prof Ivan Andonovic, Dr. Christos Tachtatzis), and the Hawthorne Fellow in Autism Innovation (Dr Szu-Ching Lu), as well as a lively group of doctoral students and academics.

You will be responsible for the provision of effective and efficient project administrative support and coordination, and can extend this work to include support in research or scholarship, depending on your strengths. You will collate and produce documentation such as financial and project updates for submission to our funders, and also to support the research team in producing and submitting reports and publications. The postholder will develop the lab’s online presence, including updating the website. Additional social media experience is welcome. You will be responsible for uploading, publishing and disseminate relevant study information internally and externally on online platforms such as the Laboratory’s website, social media, and funders’ platforms. You may take responsibility to maintain internal databases, with support from the team.

The post holder will also manage networking and engagement to facilitate our multidisciplinary teamwork, and will contribute expertise and experience to the organisational planning of research meetings and knowledge exchange projects. You will also have responsibility for co-ordinating these meetings, minute taking, collating and submitting reports to our funders, managing and reviewing budgets, and managing contracts between sites, such as with new work with Linköping University in Sweden and/or with collaborators in the United States, Italy, Denmark, and Japan.

This role is pivotal to the effective delivery of deliverables for this research group (between Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Education, Psychology, and UK and international partners).

The successful candidate will have strong previous experience independently managing the coordination of similar projects, preferably gained through previous experience of research grants or clinical trials in higher education or industry. You will be able to work with accuracy and attention to detail, and demonstrate good IT skills, including experience of managing web content and, for the right person, social media presence. We are looking for an adaptable colleague and team player who is able to communicate effectively with the project team, partners and colleagues, in relation to the trial and wider research. Previous relevant experience working in an academic or industry related environment is essential for this post.

This is an exciting and challenging position which will provide an ambitious and committed candidate with valuable experience within a multi-site, multi-country University and clinical collaborative research environment. This position is available immediately. An interest in child development, digital health, or autism and experience in smart tech or digital health are desirable.

We welcome academic applicants with an interest to advance their research or scholarship, or professional administrators with an interest in neurodiversity and experience in management.
