We are looking for a candidate with 4+ years practical experience in a commercial petrochemical laboratory.
Must be experienced in day-to-day handling/testing petrochemical products.
Qualified with a HND/BSc (or equivalent) in chemistry or related subject.
Full-time working.

Main Purpose of Job:
To assist in the day-to-day smooth running of the laboratory through the analysis of samples and entry of results
into the LIMS system, as directed by the laboratory manager. To undertake advanced analytical work within
the company to Petro Lab or other Laboratories as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:-
1. Undertake analysis, scrutinise/review results, report findings and appropriate scientific and technical advice; following suitable
in-house training.
2. Undertake such investigative analysis as is directed to provide adequate evidential support for clients’ purposes.
3. Undertake analytical and investigative work as required for the development of analytical methods and provide an assessment
of their suitability for use in the Division.
4. To participation in collaborative trials, surveys, performance assessment, routine work and to keep abreast of and advise on
relevant analytical, equipment and systems developments.
5. Undertake delegated administrative duties as assigned for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory, whether or not the
duties extend beyond the immediate department to which the analyst is appointed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. Undertake analytical work on the various sample matrices primarily petroleum products & chemicals submitted with special
emphasis on those samples likely to result in legal proceedings, be it consultancy or local authority.
2. Compiled reports as directed, on analysis of samples, and to ensure the completion of such reports within
the designated time scale.
3. Provide training to any staff assigned to the postholder, including principles and techniques of analysis, health and safety
and proper laboratory conduct.
4. Expedite procedures established for internal quality assurance purposes to UKAS ISO 17025.
5. Be conversant with the operation of equipment and undertake maintenance and minor repairs as authorised.
6. Undertake client site sampling, inspection and laboratory investigation as necessary to provide adequate services to clients.
This may include some out of hours working at evenings and weekends.
7. Collection and/or delivery in a company vehicle of samples/ chemical/etc to other company premises, test houses or clients, etc.
8. Be conversant with administrative procedures, relating to sample receipt, storage and handling.
9. Maintain laboratory safety and security practices.
10. Maintain an awareness of costs and their implications upon the operation of the laboratory.
11. Maintain an awareness of agreed time-limits for clients’ work and ensure that schedules are not compromised save in
exceptional and justifiable circumstances.
12. To attend and provide scientific/technical assistance on-site for clients when requested, including out of normal working hours.
13. To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the
general level of responsibility of this job.
14. To undertake any other duties as appropriate.
