The role - 12 month Fixed Term Contract
We have a great opportunity for a Lab Manager to deliver the Microbiology and Chemistry testing programme to meet all Service Level agreements (SLA) and internal Key Performance Indicators (KPI) by managing the laboratories including all aspects of health & Safety, budget, stock control and equipment/method performance.
You will ensure all testing is carried out to the appropriate standards, including Health & Safety, laboratory accreditation, team leadership and laboratory management and to reduce the risk of microbiological contamination of our products that would harm our consumers or pose a risk to the business.
Scope - The microbiologist role covers all geographical sites in the UK (Burton Latimer, Corby and Ryecroft) and advises/shares information with other international areas of the business as required, e.g. Post Holdings USA, Weetabix Kenya; and has Budgetary responsibility of 200k, including consumables, utensils, equipment service & repair and external analysis.
This is a great opportunity for leading a Lab team and influence key stakeholders and to deputise for the Scientific Services Manager when required.
The Recipe
- Ensure validity of results through UKAS & RSA accreditation, ensuring in-house and external methods are fit for purpose, with full responsibilities of the UKAS Quality Manager.
- Risk Assessment to define effective due diligence microbiological testing programme.
- Interpretation and management of non-compliant results with recommendations for decision making of micro issues and support for troubleshooting of factory issues.
- Deliver micro food safety through HACCP, including hygienic design, best practice on cleaning & enabling CI for micro standards.
- Identify, evaluate and mitigate future microbiological risks.

- Confidence and ability to transfer data into information for all stakeholders
