The Opportunity:
Previous experience in a scientific or laboratory environment, and/or a scientific degree is not a requirement for this role! We will consider applicants from other industries as full training is provided.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will take ownership of assisting scientists across research and development functions by completing a variety of support tasks in a laboratory environment.

This role will be a full-time permanent position based in brand-new facility - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. You’ll work form Monday to Friday, with no shifts. The team

An opportunity to support Avantor in the success of providing outstanding service to our valued customer. The environment is a laboratory that works in accordance with Health and Safety and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP), our stakeholders are pharmaceutical scientists, which creates a wonderful sense of conducting a job ‘with purpose’. You will be part of a laboratory support team, working collaboratively in a rewarding environment.

What we're looking for?
  • GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent) and a curiosity for Science
  • Full training will be given, previous experience in pharmaceutical/food manufacturing environment desirable but not essential
  • Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions
  • Computer Literate
  • Process driven and high levels of attention to detail

How you'll thrive and create an impact?
  • Preventative maintenance, cleaning & documentation of several laboratory instruments
  • Regularly check chemicals and reagent expiry dates and arrange disposal of any out-of-date material via the accurate waste disposal route
  • Maintain and coordinate laboratory consumable inventories (stock management)
  • Laboratory housekeeping, supervising, and keeping communal areas clean and tidy, waste management and specialist equipment performance checks where required
  • Provide regular glassware and plastics collection, washing and, autoclaving/ sterilisation services (steam, dry or filtration) for the scientists to use within the laboratories
