Job Description


37.5 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday 06:00 - 14:00

Purpose of the Post:

To complete, to the required quality standards, the registration of samples for a given method. To assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. To share the vision of providing the best possible quality to ensure each sample is processed with precision and accuracy.

Main Duties:

  • Organisation and registration of water samples as required by client request.
  • Typing and data entry of paper submission records and meticulous choosing of test requirements.
  • Prioritisation and time management of samples to maintain a continuous flow of samples and aiding the laboratory to test samples within desired stability times.
  • Identify deviated samples as per procedure and apply deviating comments.
  • E-mail contact with clients with any sample queries in a professional manner.
  • To undertake good housekeeping, involving strict aseptic techniques.
  • Management of stock and ordering consumables for both laboratory and the client.
  • Arranging subcontracting and couriers where required.
  • Aiding the laboratory with any peripheral tasks to aid the efficient processing of samples
  • Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

Qualifications


Essential

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience in working in a fast paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm, energy and a driven outlook. Good team player.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and basic microbiology.
  • Good laboratory skills and practices.
  • Degree in microbiology or related field
  • Knowledge of UKAS, ISO methods
  • One year’s laboratory experience.
  • Experience of Laboratory electronic management systems
