SUMMARY
The Laboratory Supervisor has responsibility for day-to-day operations within the laboratory in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations

LOCATION: 23 Hospital Fields Rd York, YO10 4DZ
DEPARTMENT: Laboratory Operations
SCHEDULE: Tuesday – Saturday, Days
ATTRIBUTES:
* BSc (or equivalent or higher in a relevant scientific subject)
* Minimum 10 years’ experience within in a laboratory environment; experience in a clinical laboratory strongly preferred
* 5 years supervisory experience strongly preferred
* Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience using laboratory instrumentation and systems used for sample analysis within Clinical Chemistry, serology, virology and urinalysis disciplines
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Operational Support. Manage the laboratory phase of validation activities (equipment and assay) alongside Research and Development ensuring deliverables meet required timeframes and requirements. Performing sample analysis where required. Designated as a subject matter expert for assays / platforms within the laboratory.
* Technical Support. Working closely with scientific subject matter experts and the Research and Development function to coordinate and manage new equipment and analytical procedures. Ability to troubleshoot assays and analytical systems within the laboratory. Setup and maintenance of laboratory equipment in line with standard operating procedure (SOPs)
* Leadership. Responsible for the day to day management of laboratory personnel including definition of role and responsibilities, training, development and performance management. Support the effective performance of the team and individuals to ensure scheduled operational activities are completed on each given day
