An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client, the powerhouse behind Persil, Comfort, Surf and Ben & Jerry's, are currently seeking Laboratory Technicians based at their Materials Innovation Factory based in Liverpool (L7) with ad-hoc working to their R & D site Port Sunlight. This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, 37.5-hour week, paying between £22,404 and £26,956 per annum pro rata, depending on experience.
Unfortunately, we cannot consider candidates who have a notice period longer than 1 month to serve.
Purpose of Role.
The role will be to provide technical support to scientists based at both the Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) and Port Sunlight Research labs. You will be involved in a variety of laboratory-based biological, chemical and product testing activities. Adhering to prescribed procedures and health and safety guidelines.
The candidate should be highly motivated with a chemical/biological sciences degree or demonstrated experience of working in a laboratory environment. Awareness of safety within the laboratory including working to standard operating procedures, risk assessments and CoSHH is essential.
Key Responsibilities.
Typical tasks include but not limited to:
- Keeping laboratory facilities, equipment, and area in clean, safe working order
- Calibration and maintenance of scientific equipment and instruments in accordance with prescribed protocols for example pH meter, autoclave, balances
- Ability to handle chemicals and biological materials to prepare a variety of chemical solutions, sterile media, reagents, and stock solutions as required.
- Carry out routine tasks accurately with an ability to weigh and pipette a variety of reagents and media recording details of samples
- Conduct simple experiments using set protocols including set up for automated experiments
- Update, maintain, and verify inventory control of chemicals, media, and supplies
- Responsible for the proper storage of materials and the appropriate disposal of waste
- Use of a computer to input, maintain, and verify information in a variety of databases and spreadsheets
- Prepare and label samples for transportation between sites
