Laboratory Technician

Please note this is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week - working 8 hour shifts between the hours of 07:00 - 23:00 Monday to Friday.

We have established an outstanding team of talented experts and a broad range of technologies in the field of Genomic Services, Forensics, AgroSciences, Pharmaceutical, Environmental, Food and Feed testing at our fully automated production facilities. This unique team supports our approach to offer best practices and flexibility for all our clients – from academic institutions to large companies around the world.

Due to the growth of our business in the UK, we have an exciting opportunity for Laboratory Technician to be part of our growing laboratory team based in Milton Keynes. The role will involve receiving, preparing and analysing samples for analytical testing.

Main duties:

• Sample reception and organising sample delivery.
• Operating automated and semi-automated laboratory procedures on various instruments, including Multiflo, Tecan and Hamilton.
• You will perform the entry quality control checks of incoming samples
• Work with the Team Leader to achieve daily targets, ensuring client turnaround time is met and seeking advice as required.
• Performing regular laboratory housekeeping duties and consumables replenishment.
• Work with the team on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Report any anomalies or concerns direct to the Team Leader.
• Ensure customer contact is conducted in a professional manner and any queries are dealt with or notified to your line leader.
• Uphold and maintain customer and company confidentiality.
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures keeping the working environment clean and tidy.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of laboratory quality system in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents.
• Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of molecular biology and first hands on molecular biological experience will be an advantage.
• NGS experience desirable.
• Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
• Have a high sense of quality, flexibility, team spirit as well a independent and reliable way of working.
• Flexibility and willingness for shift work.
