Job Title: Large Loss Household Loss Adjuster

Salary Range: £35,000 to £42,000 per annum

Location: Newcastle OR Bristol

Preferred Qualification: CILA

Job Specification:

As a Large Loss Household Claims Handler, your primary responsibility is to manage a portfolio of large or complex claims to ensure excellent service delivery while effectively managing claims costs and expenses within the insurance policy scope. We are seeking individuals who possess the necessary skills, experience, and qualifications to excel in this role.

Responsibilities:

Effectively manage day-to-day claims operations, maintaining strong communication with policyholders, suppliers, and loss assessors for the aspects of the claim under your control.

Conduct assessments and negotiations on liability, settlement values, and claim settlements for content items by traveling to policyholders' residences when necessary. Arrange and oversee alternative accommodation for policyholders as required.

Collaborate with the Buildings Surveyor Team to expedite the settlement (cash or reinstatement) of the Buildings element of each claim within your jurisdiction.

Prepare a comprehensive Large or Complex report and submit it to the Claims Senior Management Team within agreed upon timeframes.

Maintain claim files to a meticulous standard, ensuring accurate recording of all documents, photographs, and communications in chronological order for audit, complaints analysis, and client review purposes.

Coordinate with the Building Surveyor Team to manage claim reserves and payments systematically, ensuring accurate Total Incurred values and maintaining them until claim conclusion.

Assist the Customer Relations Team in handling complaints, particularly those involving the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Effectively manage your own diary, including scheduling customer appointments for site visits and arranging hotel accommodations for yourself when necessary and approved.

Experience and Knowledge:

Minimum:

At least 5 years of previous experience in an insurance claims handling role.

Strong understanding of insurance/indemnity policies and legal structures.

Ideally:

Demonstrated capability in claims negotiation with policyholders and loss assessors.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Full and clean driving license.

'A' level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English, or demonstrable ability in numeracy skills and written English.

Ideally:

Relevant role-applicable qualifications in insurance.

Previous experience in a similar role.
