Laser/ water jet CNC Machinist

My client who is based in Martock , an engineering company focusing on a number of sectors including aerospace and automotive and transportation, is looking for a Laser/ water jet CNC Machinist to join their team.

Interesting and varied machining role with this respected special purpose machinery manufacturer.

We are looking for someone who can program and operate CNC Lasers, water jet cutters and routers to cut a variety of metals and other materials.

You will have a skilled sheet metal worker background with experience using associated bending and pressing machinery where required.

You should be able to read engineering drawings and use basic measuring equipment.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating and programming CNC machines for laser cutting, water jet cutting, and wood routing.

The Machinist will be responsible for working with various substrates including wood, glass, fiberglass, titanium, steel, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate and program CNC machines for laser cutting, water jet cutting, and wood routing

- Perform break press operations to bend and shape materials as needed

- Set up and calibrate machines to ensure accurate and precise cutting of substrates

- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards

- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the cutting process

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, specifically in one or all of the following- laser cutting, water jet cutting, and wood routing

- Proficient in operating and programming CNC machines

- Knowledge of different substrates and their cutting requirements

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
