About the Role
Liverpool City Council is looking to recruit a Lawyer specialising in Employment Law.
The successful candidate will require an excellent working knowledge in key legislation, including the Employment Rights Act 1996 and the Equality Act 2010. The role will involve holding an individual caseload of contentious and non-contentious matters, including Employment Tribunal cases with advocacy as required, alongside providing general employment law advice to key stakeholders and human resource colleagues. Such work shall include, but not be limited to, advising on a range of employment law matters covering:
discrimination and equality,
unfair dismissal,
restructures and redundancies,
TUPE; and
disciplinary and grievance processes.
The post-holder will be expected to provide direct support to officers of the Council, leading the way on ensuring the Council meets its legal obligations and ensuring it is able to deliver a high-quality service with an effective and well managed workforce, as such you should be able to develop and maintain good relationships with clients and key stakeholders, including delivering internal training.
The post will be located within a wider team of lawyers undertaking education and litigation work and the post-holder will be expected to cross skill across disciplines. Experience in these areas of law and experience of working in a public sector employer is desirable but not essential.
