Our Professional Indemnity team in Liverpool is seeking to recruit a Lawyer. The team consists of “leading individuals” recognized recently by ‘Legal500’ and Chambers and have recently quoted the following regarding the team:

The team handles claims against many different types of professionals including engineers, architects, surveyors, solicitors, accountants, brokers, IFAs and veterinary surgeons as well as defending the professionals before their professional bodies. The workload is therefore wide and varied. He client base is continuing to expand with new panel appointments and we are looking for the right lawyer to work with us as part of the team to develop these opportunities. For the right candidate there are significant development and career opportunities.
The Lawyer will be responsible for running their own caseload with cases up to the value of approx. £500,000. These will be Professional Indemnity claims against a range of professions with the potential to specialise in construction or solicitors.
There will also be the opportunity to work closely with the partners in the team on high value and complex claims, which are often multi party with a claim value of several million. They can be claims of significant importance to our clients both professional or insurer and/ or precedent setting.
There will be a high level of client interaction with both the professional insureds and their insurers. The role will cover claims when they are handled through the pre-action protocol, at ADR and through litigation.
What we are looking for:
- Defendant Professional Indemnity experience (ideal)
- Have previously handled own cases with values in the region of £200 - £500k (ideal)
- Commercial litigation experience
- Previous litigation experience
- A knowledge and understanding of the types of disputes handled by the department and claims handled by the department’s insurer clients
- A genuine desire to work in this area of law
- Excellent technical and communication skills.
- An ability to prioritise workload
- An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and concise reports
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work with case management systems
- The personal skills to deal with such work as major and expensive litigation involving liaison with senior claims handlers
- Legal qualification required i.e. Solicitor / FILEX or equivalent
