Are you looking for a varying legal role where you can help make a true difference? If so we are wanting to recruit a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer  to join our friendly and professional legal department at Bradford Metropolitan District Council in the areas of Children’s Social Care.

The Legal Services team is entering an exciting time as the Council takes more projects forward including the City of Culture 2025 (https://bradford2025.co.uk/), and development of a Childrens Trust. You will work with the team to provide high quality advice including advice to Councillors, Senior Officers and Scrutiny Committee, in particular advising senior managers in client departments on policy and high profile public issues.

We are looking for a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer, to work primarily in the field of Children’s Social Care, and with the ability to manage a full and caried caseload including Public Law Outline matters, you must be prepared to undertake advocacy in person and remotely in the Bradford and Leeds area. You should be familiar with relevant legal provisions including the Children Act 1989, Adoption and Children Act 2002. The work is sensitive, confidential and often complex and emotionally demanding in nature. You should be able to act under pressure in the face of competing demands and be able to interpret and communicate information effectively, use a range of complex IT packages and work to tight deadlines. The role also involves providing supervision and support to more junior staff.

You will be a solicitor entitled to practice in England and holding a current practising certificate, a barrister entitled to practice in England and holding a current practising certificate or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
