Lead Buyer

Position Available: Lead Buyer (Direct Procurement)
Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid) & Dynamic Working Hours
Salary: Up to £47,000 + Paid Overtime & Company Bonus & Very Good Pension Package
Experience needed: Experience of being a buyer within a direct procurement environment, ideally within a complex, high-technology engineering or manufacturing industry e.g. defence, aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics, medical devices and similar.

About the role
We are a leading defence company who are at the forefront of innovation in the industry and your work will have a direct impact on the safety and security of the UK & our allies. We are currently looking for a Lead Buyer to handle procurement activities in their category and drive procurement excellence and improvement. You will support the creation and implementation of category strategy throughout the business, both nationally and internationally, with the purpose of improving operational efficiency.

What we need from you:

• Experience of being a buyer within a complex, high technology engineering or manufacturing environment
• Excellent knowledge of strategic and operational procurement processes
• Excellent team player, willing to take the lead in your category
• Well-developed communication, negotiation and analytical skills with a strong ability to influence
• Passionate about developing strategy and driving innovation with a continuous improvement approach
