WHAT TO EXPECT 

The JLR Vehicle Structures team consists of more than 200 Engineers creating the BIW (Body in White) Structures for JLRs range of current and upcoming vehicles. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring this large and dynamic team produce high quality efficient CAD.

 

You will also be working with our data experts to extract and utilise the data within CatiaV6 3Dexperience to input to vital tools and metrics used by us and others across the business.

 

The role also requires creation and improvement of departmental CAD processes and developing Catia V6 / 3DExperience toolsets to deliver greater efficiency and robustness, with a particular emphasis on parametric modelling and complex networks of linked CAD models.

 

The successful candidate will also help with the creation and delivery of training material across the Vehicle Structures team and assist with the transition of CAD data from legacy systems into the 3DExperience platform.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Help define and publish the CAD quality outputs and modelling standards for Vehicle Structures. Delivery of these to the team.
  • Identify, create and deliver Catia V6 / 3DExperience toolsets and Processes to the team, that lead to more efficient and higher quality structures and help Vehicle Structures reach their aim of being exceptional creators of parametric and associative CAD models and networks.
  • Inform and publicise new CAD practices and standards to the wider team.
  • Support the delivery of company wide CAD processes into the Vehicle Structures/Body in White environment; PIM methods, Fixing tools, software updates etc. Actively engage with the resolution of issues before the release to the wider team within the production environment.
  • Support the Vehicle Structures CAD User base with resolution/escalation of day-to-day CAD related issues.
  • Measure and support the programme teams to improve adherence to the CAD standards through publishing data using Tableau dashboards and supporting resolution activities.

 

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Strong Catia V6 / 3DExperience CAD Authoring skills, specifically:
    • Parametric modelling using Generative Shape Design especially use of formulas and relations.
    • Understanding and application of Engineering Knowledge Language (EKL) within Catia
    • Creation of reusable features within 3DExperience (such as powercopies, UDF’s and engineering templates)
  • Experience of data preparation, analysis and visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker/Data Studio/Alteryx or equivalent)
  • Experience of legacy CAD and PiM systems (Teamcenter / Catia V5) an advantage
  • Excellent Communication skills to enable cooperation across the whole diverse team but also outside it.
