About the @one Alliance

The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a totally collaborative organisation made up of seven partner companies (Anglian Water, SWECO, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, MMB, MWH Treatment, and Skanska) and an extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Waters capital investment programme.

Now working in the latest Asset Management Period, known as AMP 7, we are working towards delivering an approximate £1.8bn programme of work until 2025. Are you ready to join us as we aim to deliver the most exciting and innovative AMP we have ever seen?

With around 800 projects being worked on across the region, we work closely with Anglian Water and their customers to deliver the best infrastructure and non-infrastructure solutions to keep the water flowing.

Do you have what it takes to transform society?

With a large ramp up of work in front of us, we have a host of engineering projects which require our Delivery team to provide enthusiasm and innovation to deliver engineering excellence. To provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in either water or water recycling non-infrastructure projects, we are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join the team!

What will you be doing as our new Lead Civil Engineer?

As our new Lead Civil Engineer, youll provide design support for numerous non-infrastructure schemes and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards. Youll be responsible for the checking and reviewing of civil design deliverables produced by other Civil Engineers in the @one Alliance to ensure the processes and procedures are followed as well as coaching and mentoring junior engineers irrespective of partner company.

Collaborating with key stakeholders and assist the multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure the project solution is providing best value for business through being fit for purpose and completed on time, to budget, and to the correct quality. Youll also collaborate with other stakeholders throughout the business to drive continuous developments in engineering, design, and innovation. In addition, youll be responsible for delivering your own projects as a Civil Engineer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Principal Engineer, Design Managers and Technical managers to acquire upcoming project milestones and design review dates. Regularly report to the Principal Engineer.

  • Review drawings and models to ensure @one quality, safety, and technical standards are adhered to.

  • Review project design calculations and ensure they have been completed by project teams.

  • Review construction site design queries and change requests to ensure quick but accurate responses and/or the design remains suitable.

  • Liaise with other departments and project teams with respect to design requirements and ensure own project workload is completed to the correct standards and specifications.

  • Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team. Whilst working across the Alliance project areas and Pan-Alliance to set technical common standards and processes.

  • Ensure designs comply with all statutory civil standards and regulations and water industry standards and regulations.

  • Work with the Anglian Water and @one Alliance Innovations team to develop and trial new technologies intended to support the client in meeting carbon reduction targets.

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours.

To join us on the team, youll hold a degree in Civil or be able to demonstrate a degree level of knowledge through relevant experience. Ideally, youd be a chartered engineer by relevant chartership body (e.g., ICE) but this is not essential, more importantly you can demonstrate a level of competence in practical Civil Engineering design experience in the water / wastewater industry environment.

Youll have a proven track record in design and integration of civil process systems, and equipment, and have some experience in the Mentoring and coaching of junior engineers. Youll have the ability to work with people from different partner company backgrounds and disciplines and utilise their knowledge and experience - implement tried and tested ways of working. Whilst adding to this with own experience and know how.
