Job Description

Jellyfish is looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer to work Hybrid in our London (The Shard) Office. You will be positioned within the rapidly growing global cloud engineering team to work on guiding the team in building, maintaining, and scaling our clients' web and data platforms using modern infrastructure technologies such as serverless containers and container orchestration.

In addition to this, you must have a demonstrable background and experience in platform and application security and will oversee all aspects of Jellyfish security.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide project ownership, leadership and accountability for stability and quality assurance across various cloud platforms
  • Introduce best practices for documentation, code quality and change control by introducing processes and policies for Terraform, Docker and Helm
  • Develop and implement cloud security policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard our cloud assets.
  • Ensure our cloud estate maintains compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Liaise with customers to propose and provide time estimates for modern production-ready solutions from customer requirements
  • Act as an escalation point for junior/mid-weight/senior engineers and oversee platform enhancements
  • Execute implementations to tight deadlines, working well both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and the business
  • Managing large cloud projects for our clients across multiple regions globally
  • Work closely with other lead engineers to improve knowledge sharing and ensure the quality of day-to-day practices is consistent across teams
  • Planning penetration tests and ensuring remediation plans are completed
  • Hands-on vulnerability scanning of platforms, liaising with various teams on remediation plans and reporting on organisational risk
  • Point of contact for all client security audits, questionnaires and client due diligence
  • Advise on new technologies and ensure Jellyfish security is always evolving
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, trying always to achieve new goals
Qualifications

Strong knowledge and previous experience as a Lead Cloud Engineer specifically with:

  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership in a Lead Cloud Engineer role, including the ability to lead and mentor team members effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills are essential as the role involves regular interaction with clients.
  • Modern Application Architectures: A comprehensive understanding of modern application architectures, including microservices, event-driven, and serverless.
  • Public Cloud: Strong hands-on experience with a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Cloud Engineering: Proficiency in deploying Kubernetes, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
  • Dockerization: Competency in Dockerizing applications.
  • DevOps & SRE: Proficiency in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts and design.
  • Architectural Reviews: Experience in effectively conducting architectural reviews.
  • Cloud Security: A strong background in cloud security practices and technologies is a fundamental requirement.
  • Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for ISO27001, GDPR and SOC2
  • Technical Web Builds: The ability to scope and estimate technical web builds accurately.
  • Web Technologies: Knowledge of web technologies, including LAMP & LEMP stacks.
  • Performance Enhancement: Familiarity with performance enhancement technologies such as CDN, Caching, etc.
  • CI Pipelines: Experience in developing and maintaining Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines.

Desirable skills

  • Cloud Certifications: GCP, Azure or AWS solutions architect certifications
  • Security Certifications: CISSP, CISM, Security+, CASP+, EC-Council, ISACA, Other
  • Background: Software Development, DevOps, DevSecOps or other tech-related discipline advantageous
