Lead Counsellor
Manchester, Greater Manchester (with hybrid working – two days per week in the office)

They are looking for a Lead Counsellor to join them on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Role
As a Lead Counsellor, you will deliver and support the development of our client’s support service, which provides psychological advice and treatment to trans, non-binary and gender variant people who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

 

Leading the counselling team, you will accept referrals and ensure clients are directed to the most suitable treatment options. You’ll be responsible for caseload management and the preparation of individual sessions with clients.

 

Implementing your knowledge of holistic care and counselling interventions, you will offer support to meet the distinct needs of each client and supervise and support the Junior Therapists in their clinical work.

 

Additionally, you will:

 

- Carry out risk management and address safety concerns

- Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out per week

- Maintain accurate records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols

- Oversee, maintain and collate data for reports
About You
To be considered as a Lead Counsellor, you will need:
- Demonstrable experience of delivering counselling

- Demonstrable experience of supporting trans and non-binary communities in a therapeutic setting

- Experience of supervising colleagues in a healthcare setting

- Experience of working towards and meeting agreed performance and service targets

- Evidence of working towards British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Accreditation

- Previous safeguarding training

- Excellent knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two therapeutic models

- Excellent communication skills

- To have completed a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited counselling course at diploma level (4) or equivalent Completion of a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited counselling course at diploma level (4) or an equivalent qualification

- Proficiency in IT
