Lead Data Architect - Reading, Berkshire

A specialist automotive technology and research company seek a Lead Data Architect that is passionate about Cloud Architecture. They want someone to help them to deliver E2E organisational value, whilst at the same time expanding your skillset.

Data, data, data, are you a Lead Data Architect who is passionate about data value, meaning and accuracy? If yes, keep on reading as this is an exciting role for you. Their Data and Analytics function is growing, and they have created a Cloud Architect role to support their data delivery process in Azure to enable their business to lead automotive technology and research.

  • As the Lead Data Architect you will help them design and implement appropriate Azure architecture to support delivery of BI and analytics use cases.
  • This role will work with other members of the Enterprise Data team such as data developers, architects and testers to develop their data delivery capabilities.
  • Your North Star architecture will focus on leveraging the Azure platform to ensue value driven delivery of quality data products.

The responsibilities for the Lead Data Architect are:

  • Provide advisory and thought leadership on the provision of analytics environments leveraging Cloud based platforms, big data technologies, including integration with existing data and analytics platforms and tools.
  • Develop cloud strategies to optimize performance, cost, and security.
  • Deliver robust and reliable cloud architecture functionality in line with industry standards.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organisation for cloud end-to-end Data Architecture.
  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions that meet business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in cloud technology and integrate relevant innovations into the organization's cloud architecture.

Skills & experience required for the Lead Data Architect role:

  • At least 3 years’ practical experience in a similar role within a Data & Analytics team, delivering robust and reliable cloud architecture functionality.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to migrate applications, data, and services to the cloud.
  • Experience with relational/non-relational stores (e.g. Postgres, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with data modelling - 3NF, Data Vault.

Additional skills & experience that we would welcome to their team:

  • Experience mentoring others or managing a small team (or the desire to do so).
  • Working with Agile and DevOps techniques and implementation approaches.
  • Experience with related/complementary open-source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Apache, Python, Scala).
  • Hands-on experience with Big Data stack (SPARK, Kafka).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and deliver on business requirements.
