About The Role

By bringing together NHS 111 call centres, clinical assessment and other urgent care services, we enable patients to access the right care, when they need it. It’s better for everyone.
As an Overnight Driver, you’ll chauffeur GPs and nurses to and from patients’ homes – typically when they’re unable to see their usual clinician. This is not an emergency service and you will need to follow all the normal rules of the road. It will be part of your role to ensure the safety of our clinicians and medical equipment, so you may be asked to escort them to the patient’s front door. You’ll also be expected to keep vehicles appropriately maintained, and at times you’ll need to communicate with the public, as well as the team back at base.
This a 12 hours per month position to cover night shifts for our Out of Hours GP service, this will include Evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure and maintain own compliance with all necessary and corresponding driving competencies and assessment, in accordance with the National IUC Driving Standards Policy

  • Support the assessment of new drivers including their on-going training in the visiting service

  • Provision of a full, service induction for new drivers, including completion of Driver Competency Assessment, in accordance with the National IUC Driving Standards Policy, supported by completion for retention of all corresponding documentation

  • Completion of periodic Driver Audits, one per driver per year as a minimum, including in circumstances where concerns are raised in accordance with the Driving Standards Policy

  • Complete and maintain vehicle familiarisation for self and all drivers, including vehicle inspections, IPC and all driving procedures

  • Work closely with drivers to ensure the smooth and safe running of all visiting cars.

  • Support with policy audits on all drivers, including to review successes and challenges and to establish training needs going forward; facilitate driving policy requirements for annual checks

  • General daily maintenance of all Practice Plus Group’s fleet, ensuring that the fleet meets service delivery needs including to support discussion and review at quarterly meetings

  • Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times including in cases where patient identifiable data might be accessed within the fleet/during home visiting shifts

What we’ll look for in you

Qualifications
Good Basic Education.
Full Clean UK Driving License
