Lead Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Commissioning Engineer to join a well-established Fire & Security company to complete a variety of work in London / Home Counties, due to recent success our client is actively expanding and looking for hardworking and ambitious people to join their growing team.

A Fire Alarm Project Lead Commissioning Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that fire alarm systems are installed and functions correctly to meet safety standards and regulations. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project completion. While specific requirements may vary, having a combination of education, hands-on experience, and a strong technical skill set is essential for success within this role.

Main Responsibilities:

System Design Review:

Collaborate with design teams and architects to understand the specifications and requirements of the fire alarm system.

Review system designs and plans to ensure they comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Installation Inspection:

Conduct site visits to inspect the installation of fire alarm systems. Ensure that installations adhere to approved designs and comply with safety regulations.

System Testing:

Perform comprehensive testing of fire alarm systems to verify their functionality.

Conduct functional tests on individual components, as well as integrated system tests to ensure proper communication and coordination.

Commissioning:

Oversee the commissioning process of fire alarm systems, which includes verifying system configurations, programming, and addressing any issues.

Essential:

• Understanding of the installation process for the systems being commissioned
• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and address issues during the commissioning process.
• Proficiency in conducting thorough testing of systems to ensure proper functionality.
• Good ability to use PC and modern word processing applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• System programming required. This is particularly relevant for systems that involve software or control systems
• Experience working on projects from initiation to completion.
• Ability to collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other team members.

Preferred:

• Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineers with a strong background in electrical or electronic engineering a deep understanding of fire alarm systems, and familiarity with relevant regulations.
• Effective communication skills and attention to detail are crucial in this role to ensure that systems are not only operational but also compliant and reliable in emergency situations

• This role will require the holder to undergo and pass a DBS check
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence with a maximum of 6-points
