Lead Engineer - 39377 - Whitley - Up to £25.13/hr - Inside IR35

A Lead Engineer opportunity has become available for a global automotive OEM. As a Lead Engineer, you will be working within the Engines Engineering team based out of Whitley, offering a flexible hybrid working model.

You will join the powertrain engineering team and support immediate project requirements. 

• Technically leading the design and development activities of on-engine mechanical and electrical components supporting the engines manufacturing plant in Wolverhampton.
• Own the Design and Release of multiple parts across various engine programmes, delivering the commodity plan to quality, cost and time.
• Develop a Product Design Specification to support supplier sourcing and work with the matched pair through the sourcing process.
• Lead the suppliers through the various design stages, procurement of prototypes, production tooling and ensure all components perform to JLR requirements.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders around the business to develop and optimise the hardware design to engineering processes.
• Support resolution of key development, launch and customer quality issues involving Engine Mechanical & Electrical commodities.

To apply for this position you should have some of the following:

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering.
• Component delivery experience from concept to launch.
• Experience in Low Voltage electrical components (Starter motors, Alternators, Harness etc..) Problem solving, Issue resolution experience).
• A customer first mind set who is easy to do business with, makes people feel special, driven to deliver experiences that are personalised, transparent and dependable.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas.
• Experience of working with Low voltage electrical components from concept design to delivery.
• Product Development lifecycle and supplier management experience.
