Job Purpose

This is a great opportunity to get involved in predictive analytics for the UU income function and especially to enable support for vulnerable customers including those with affordability issues.  

You will be using a range of sophisticated tools to build predictive models and to provide deep analysis of customer behaviour so that we can maximise support for our customers.

You'll support the Income senior leadership, operational management and their teams by providing the relevant analysis, predictive analytics and reporting to enable the effective management of the Income and Customer business areas.

To manage and motivate a small team, to produce high quality data and reports which support process improvements, decision-making and achievement of performance targets within Income and the broader Customer Services operations.

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Work together with the functional areas, develop and deploy reporting in the form of Dashboards, spreadsheets, predictive models and any other appropriate platforms to support the business.
  • To develop predictive models to identify customer groupings to enable specific campaigns or activities to be actioned
    expertise in relevant analytical based reporting, having a working knowledge of relevant operational processes, procedures and technology.
  • Have a detailed understanding of reporting tools and methods and familiarity with relevant data sources and data management systems along with presentation and communication skills and high-level data manipulation skills.
  • Analyse information at a granular level and highlight any risks and opportunities to drive cash and performance reporting together with improvement in customer experience.
  • Regularly review existing reporting in the form of spreadsheets, dashboards and other outputs together with productionised data tables to ensure that they remain relevant and accurate.
  • Report analytical data in a concise and tailored approach to give clear facts to aid management decisions.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of a small team of analysts, including but not limited to workload, individual performance and attendance.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and effectively influence key decision-makers.
  • Be the leading SME in your business area supporting stakeholders in fully understand their operational imperatives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to build new analysis and reporting or to amend current output to enhance the information provided to the senior management and operational teams.
  • Champion accuracy of reporting in the team.
  • Provide a high degree of flexibility both in terms of personal outlook/attitude and workload/tasks
  • Challenge existing processes to create continuous improvement plans
  • Documentation of all report production methods by the provision of process flows and fully documented automated workflows
  • Management of data requests within the agreed time line as specified by the requestor.
  • Provide cover when required for analysts and/or other lead analysts.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Educated to degree level in a mathematical, statistical or scientific discipline.
  • Expert skills in Excel together with Alteryx or similar workflow system, Exasol or other data warehouse technology and Tableau. Strong SQL and database skills.
  • Working knowledge of R and/or Python would be a significant advantage.
  • A deep understanding of predictive analytical modelling techniques is a requirement.
  • First class analytical skills with the ability to present findings with confidence at all management levels.
  • Knowledge of customer account billing systems such as Alto and Debt Manager (or similar customer billing and debt management products) combined with data warehouse and dimensional modelling concepts together with a detailed knowledge of management information tools.
