Job description

An experienced Manufacturing Engineer is sought to Lead a busy team within an established and successful Engineering company in Teesside

Managing a new team of New Product Introduction Engineers, Manufacturing Support & Improvement Engineers, and Maintenance Engineers your overall objective is to enable effective manufacturing in a complex and high variety electro-mechanical environment. You will improve the quality of the company's output through a combination of direct hands-on support, the improvement of existing & legacy manufacturing processes and the optimal introduction of new products from the new product / product update pipeline.

Your key responsibilities will include: -

  • Leading, managing and developing the team to keep morale high and deliver on the departmental goals/ objectives
  • Develop delivery methods on the core requirements of the Manufacturing Engineering function so they are at a higher level of maturity. These should be underpinned by clear manuals, processes & work instructions covering Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, Manufacturing Support and Maintenance & Tool management
  • Underpin the core processes and Manufacturing Engineering activities/deliverables with a suite of KPIs/metrics that support the overall operational & business strategic objectives and enable data driven improvement.
  • Champion and foster a lean & continuous improvement ethos and culture with the Manufacturing Engineering team and the wider manufacturing team to support quality and efficiency improvements.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Operations Manager and colleagues from across the business to develop a manufacturing technology roadmap to support quality and efficiency.
  • Proactively learn about the company's products from their end application through to how they are manufactured; with a view of building a picture of the challenges faced and the opportunities for improvement in process, design, work instructions etc.
  • Develop strong relationships right across the organisation to support both new product introduction and manufacturing support activities.
  • To support other company departments as and when required to enable the company to achieve its objectives.

YOUR SKILLS

The successful candidate will be Degree qualified in a relevant engineering subject - e.g. electronics/ electrical, mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and have a lean manufacturing qualification. (Six Sigma Green / Black Belt or similar). You will have need 3-5 years experience within a Manufacturing Engineering role, a good knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes with Capex creation. NPI Process and practical design for manufacture experience. MRP & CAD skills area distinct advantage as is a leadership or people management qualification. Experience in a regulated environment is preferred
