Job description

A leading global instrumentation manufacturing company are currently recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Mechanical Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing the Product Development strategy to achieve profitable organic growth and continuous enhancement. Situated within the Engineering Department, this position requires seamless collaboration with the Projects, Production, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include:

  • Crafting cutting-edge product designs within established timeframes aligned with business objectives, employing robust engineering principles.
  • Engaging with customers during the quotation and pre-production phases to grasp their requirements and deliver state-of-the-art technology solutions.
  • Infusing innovation into product design to optimize performance characteristics and functionality, fostering a competitive edge.
  • Interpreting and adhering to pertinent engineering standards, regulations, certifications, and customer compliance criteria.
  • Generating comprehensive design reports, stress analyses, tolerance stack-up assessments, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and other relevant validation methodologies.
  • Leveraging substantial specialist expertise in technology, certification, or industrial applications to drive New Product Development initiatives.
  • Assuming leadership in design validation and qualification testing, including research and development planning and coordination of sub-contracted resources.
  • Championing concurrent engineering principles by integrating insights into manufacturing methodologies, process capabilities, assembly techniques, testing methodologies, and inspection processes.
  • Coordinating project teams as needed to ensure efficient release of pre-production project workload by the small engineering team.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and approving work completed by Level 1, 2, and 3 Design Engineers, offering mentorship when necessary.
  • Providing technical support and product training to customers and sales engineers.
  • Compiling Operating and Maintenance Manuals for new and derivative products, collaborating with marketing and sales entities where applicable.
  • Undertaking any additional duties commensurate with the role's nature and level, as reasonably required.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering including knowledge of valve design with knowledge of fluid power, corrosion, stress and thermodynamics.
