Band 7 – Lead Midwife for Recruitment and Retention
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, sensitive, forward-thinking midwife to lead Recruitment and Retention at The Hillingdon Hospital maternity unit.

The postholder will lead on the delivery of the maternity Recruitment and Retention strategy and will work closely with the Practice Development and Professional Midwifery Advocates teams, to enhance experience of work and promote retention in the maternity workforce for preceptorship, early career and late career midwives.
The post holder will be required to:
• Lead activities to motivate and engage the maternity staff workforce,
• Analyse and report on national, regional and local data to assist development of targeted interventions related to staff experience.
• Optimise wellbeing for new starters during induction period to support and enhance resilience.
• Evaluate the induction package for new starters and adapt accordingly, measuring the effectiveness and impact of bespoke programmes on retention and recruitment.
• Support exit interviews to develop themes to demonstrate areas for improvement which can be discussed with other local, regional and national retention leads and teams.
• Be an experienced and approachable practitioner providing clinical support to all midwives within all clinical environments.
• Act as the subject matter expert in all logistics relating to midwifery recruitment strategies, engaging with candidates in the pipeline and working with the recruitment team to ensure a smooth and timely onboarding period
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

The post holder will lead in setting, monitoring and reviewing standards and procedures in Recruitment and Retention working collaboratively with the medical and midwifery teams. The post holder will maintain their own clinical skills by undertaking clinical work in a variety of clinical settings including labour ward and inpatient areas.
The role requires effective team working across several professional groups and departments to offer safe, personal and effective care. The postholder must have the resilience to cope with the many and varied demands of this role.
