As a Lead Nurse you would be expected to deliver compassionate and inclusive senior nurse leadership, overseeing high quality clinical care for psycho-oncology services at The Christie. This will be achieved through visible leadership and working collaboratively with staff and patients to promote, support and review quality standards.
To provide strong professional leadership and line management responsibility for mental health nurses and AHP’s within the psycho-oncology department. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of effective clinical practice to improve and enhance the care of oncology patients with mental and psychological needs. The post holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond.
The key responsibility is to ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and surveillance. The post holder will be expected to work clinically and provide clinical leadership and support the delivery of evidence-based patient centred care, which is of the highest standard. The post holder will take responsibility for the quality management of the psycho-oncology team with a specific emphasis on facilitating, enabling and supporting the team in their decision making in order to achieve optimal patient care and use of available resources across the entire hospital site.

- Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health and psychological needs and plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs to ensure continuity of effective patient care.

- Participate in skill mix review, workforce redesign and recruitment and retention strategies to develop and modernise the workforce in conjunction with the divisional Senior Nursing and Management team.
- Responsible for the effective management of staff sickness and absence as well as maintaining an overview ensuring absence percentage targets are not breached, acting where required.
- The Lead Nurse will provide professional advice and support to specialty teams and service line colleagues to ensure the delivery of the highest quality of patient care and service delivery.
