variable hour contract | £12.59 to £13.46 per hour depending on experience (Grade E) | Whitlingham Adventure

Lead Outdoor Learning Instructor

Whitlingham Adventure offers a wide range of adventurous activities on water and land to young people, adults, families and to local communities. Activities include canoeing, climbing, kayaking, orienteering, sailing, stand up paddleboarding, windsurfing and more.

Based within Whitlingham Country Park, a gateway to the Broads National Park, the centre provides a range of Outdoor Learning activities including schools and youth groups, individual courses, adventure clubs, craft hire and a range of opportunities to be active outdoors.

We are looking for experienced and qualified Outdoor Learning Instructors to join our team who will deliver to a range of people in their relevant activities. With at least 2 full seasons (or 3 part-time) of working in an outdoor centre or similar environment.

You must hold:

In date First Aid qualification (minimum 1 day training, as required by your instructor/coach qualification)

In date face to face safeguarding training (minimum 3hrs, e.g. UK Coaching,

Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership or equivalent)

At least one senior qualified National Governing Body (NGB) Instructor/Coach such as:

Royal Yachting Association (RYA)

  • Senior Dinghy Instructor or
  • Senior Windsurf Instructor

British Canoeing (BC)

  • BCU Level 3 Coach or
  • UKCC Level 2 Coach or
  • Coach Award in relevant discipline (e.g. Sheltered Water Coach (Canoe/Kayak) or SUP)

(Or equivalent schemes/NGBs)

Lead Outdoor Learning Instructors will be delivering a range of activity sessions as well as being Duty Team Leader for the day and supervising a team of Activity Instructors.

Flexible working with the opportunity for progress and development within the centre and the industry, gaining a range of experiences during the season. Lead Outdoor Learning Instructors are employed on a variable hours basis, with activities being delivered throughout the summer season including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
