About this opportunity
We’re excited to be looking for a Lab Product Owner for the Intelligent Process Automation Lab at Lloyds Banking Group.
The IPA lab are at the forefront of the Bank’s ambition to use exciting new technology to help Britain prosper. We provide the automations to enable the Bank to deliver the right customer and colleague experiences. To do this we’re working with ground-breaking automation products at scale. We want to use ‘intelligence’ derived from Natural Language Processing and Understanding to drive automated solutions that remove highly repetitive tasks from our colleagues and customers.
As the Lead Product Owner you'll be accountable for managing a growing suite of automation applications including the Bank’s Robotic Process Automation platform and a range of document processing tools, expanding our offering of automation products and integrating them with the machine learning based solutions offered by the rest of the platform, including our Chatbot and Natural Language Engineering products.
Day-to-day activity is structured through Agile, so you’ll lead the production of the vision, roadmap and the prioritised backlog of work for the teams. You’ll also be accountable for winning income, managing expenditure, delivery commitments and the team’s risk profile. As the person responsible for successful selection of the right product or service, we’d like you to be as passionate about our product as us! In particular, this means: collaborating with a diverse and varied group of business areas and people across the Group; keeping your finger on the pulse of emerging ideas and technology; spotting the opportunities around the business to develop new products & services; and finally, leading our dedicated team of Product Owners and Engineers.
About us
We’re on an exciting journey and there couldn’t be a better time to join us. The investments we’re making in our people, data, and technology are leading to innovative projects, fresh possibilities, and countless new ways for our people to work, learn, and thrive.
What you’ll need
  • Strategic Thinking. Ability to align product strategy with the overall business goals, foresee industry trends, and adapt the product vision and strategy accordingly. Expertise in developing and maintaining a product roadmap that balances short-term achievements with long-term goals, considering customer feedback, market trends, and technological advancements.
  • Experience of leading end to end of a software & infrastructure production service across all dimensions of people, process and technology. Lead, empower, and manage product teams, ensuring that the team remains focused and efficient in achieving product goals.
  • Strong skills in managing and communicating with collaborators at all levels, including executives, to ensure alignment and buy-in on the product vision and roadmap.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, tailored to a wide range of audiences, from technical teams to executive stakeholders.
  • Customer and Market Insight User-Centric Approach. Deep understanding of the user experience, based on empirical data to advise on product improvements.

And any experience of these would be really useful
  • Understanding of Automation Technologies. Knowledge of RPA, OCR, Document Automation, and Process Mining products, including how they can be applied to solve business problems and improve processes.
  • Developer Tooling Familiarity. Awareness of the tools and environments used by developers to create, test, and deploy automation solutions, including version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and development frameworks specific to automation technologies.
  • Technical Literacy. Ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate effectively with technical teams.

We’re disability confident. So if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
