Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

QA and Automation at Capco


  • Be creating, driving and building test strategies that are robust, reusable and scalable.
  • Be responsible for creating detailed test artefacts such as test plans, test specifications, automated tests, defect tickets and reports
  • Be managing test environments, test devices, defining and creating consistent test data and reports
  • Work with both your team and other cross functional teams to plan and execute tests using the latest UI/Mobile test automation technologies, processes and tools to deliver frequently, safely and efficiently for millions of banking & financial customers
  • Collaborate with architects to ensure solutions adhere to their principles and direction
  • Lead, mentor, up-skill and inspire other automation engineers
  • Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent
  • Have the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-experts with eloquence and confidence.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of new technologies being used in finance and other industries and loves to experiment.

About you

  • Demonstrate practical experience of engineering best practices, while being obsessed with continuous improvement
  • Have expertise in a set of the team's domains, including the breadth of services, how they interact, and data flows between systems
  • Able to work individually or with teams drawing on experience to recommend tooling and solutions aligning with organisational strategies. Influences organisation wide testing strategy
  • Architects services and systems using well accepted design patterns to allow for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling. Guides teams in anticipation of future use cases and helps them make design decisions that minimise the cost of future changes
  • Actively contributes to security designs based on the organisation's security strategy. Fosters a security first mindset across teams, and leads by example. Has advanced knowledge of key security technologies, protocols & techniques (e.g. TLS, OAuth, Encryption, Networks)
  • Be comfortable managing engineers ensuring they are tracking the team's efficiency and quality of work, they assist in regularly adjusting processes and timelines to ensure high quality work is delivered
  • Have personally made valuable contributions to products, solutions and teams and can articulate the value to customers.
  • Have played a role in the delivery of critical business applications and ideally customer facing applications.
  • Have the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-experts with eloquence and confidence.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of new technologies being used in finance and other industries and loves to experiment.

Skills & Expertise


Essential


  • Solid Test Automation experience across the multitude of Windows and Mac browsers and Mobile Devices (iOS, Android, Windows)
  • Test automation experience using Cucumber/Ruby, Robot, WebDriver, Selenium
  • Experience of at least one of Browser Stack, Sauce Labs, Appium, Calabash, TestCloud or other Cloud Service Testing Framework
  • Test automation experience of ReST and SOAP based APIs and Web Services using single and multi-threading
  • Good understanding of web technologies e.g. HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ReST and JSON
  • Experience of test and issue management tools e.g. Jira, RTC, TestRail and Quality Centre
  • CI/CD - tools such as Confluence, Jira, Jenkins, Git, GitHub, Stash, SonarQube, Performance centre


Desirable


  • Background as a developer preferred
  • Load and Performance Testing experience – Load Runner, Performance Centre and JMeter or similar tools
  • PaaS/IaaS – OpenShift, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure & Cloudbees
  • DevOps processes and experience
  • Agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban, Lean UX, X
  • Have strong experience delivering to AAA accessibility standards and usability principles
  • Experience migrating on-premise solutions to a cloud ecosystem.
