Job description

Finegreen are currently supporting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of a Lead Superintendent Obstetric Sonographer, the client is interested in candidates who can work full or part time within the services on a long term interim basis.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Work in an expert clinical practitioner role responsible for the direct delivery of the obstetric ultrasound service;
  • Laise with Lead Superintendents, members of the Imaging Management team, Superintendents, Radiographers, Nurses, Radiologists and relevant clinicians and managers outside of Imaging to ensure the provision of a modern, high quality, patient centred service in a safe clinical environment;
  • Support the Imaging Service Manager and Clinical Director in achieving departmental and Trust objectives and in the provision of an efficient and effective obstetric ultrasound service;
  • Work with professional leads across the organisation to ensure that the Trust can evidence its compliance with national policies and standards (including delivery of operational standards e.g. 6–weeks waiting times targets);
  • Provide professional leadership and management for area of responsibility and leadership on evidence–based changes to practice, including the development of strategic frameworks which are robust and auditable;
  • Be an expert practitioner and act as Lead Obstetric Sonographer, accountable for the direct delivery of this service;
  • Provide and facilitate an expert level of care to patients requiring ultrasound examinations regularly performing the imaging examination and issuing the resultant diagnostic report where facts or situations may be highly complex, draw conclusions, and make recommendations as per departmental protocol.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Registered with HCPC, NMC, or other recognised UK regulatory healthcare body;
  • FASP accredited level 7 qualification in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound;
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development;
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS structure and current developments within this specialist area;
