Overview and Responsibilities

Lead Teacher - Primary Aurora Brooklands

Location: Midge Hall, near Leyland, Lancashire   

Salary: M1 (£30,000) - UPS2 (£44,870) + expert payment of £1500 per annum in addition to salary  

Hours: 40 hours per week – Term Time Only

Closing date: Monday 26th February 2024

The main purpose of the role:

As our Primary Class Teacher; your role will be to provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum to enable our pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning; this will include a small amount of teaching outside your specialism to your assigned form group.  To facilitate this, you’ll plan and deliver lessons according to DFE guidance and the school’s policies and be responsible for the day to day running of the class and other relevant aspects of the running of the school.   You’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to our Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants and play a key role in their Professional Development Reviews.

Key duties:

  • Deliver the curriculum as prescribed by our schemes of work.
  • Lead, organise, and coordinate primary and early years  within the whole school.
  • Develop primary and early years as a specialist and successful dimension of the academic curriculum offer; reflected by improved progress and outcomes for all pupils.
  • Manage and lead relevant primary school-based approaches which relate to SEND and neuro diverse young people of primary age.
  • Provide relevant progress and teaching/learning quality information to SLT as required
  • Effectively plan lessons across a variety of subjects that are stimulating, relevant and well-structured to a wide range of abilities and communication needs to ensure all students are able to participate and reach their full potential.
  • Provide relevant support and training to teachers and support staff who are delivering learning to primary aged children outside of their specialism.
  • Deliver the ethos of the school and the educational vision and direction which enables effective teaching and support, successful learning and achievement by students and sustained improvement in their spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical well-being in preparation for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
  • Deliver effective teaching and learning and monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching support and standards of students’ achievement, using benchmarks and setting targets for improvement.
  • Lead, organise, and coordinate progress data and information pertaining to primary aged pupils, supporting the Assistant Headteacher – Curriculum and assessment.
  • Provide relevant progress and teaching/learning quality information to SLT as required.

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Skills and Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
  • Experience of working with young people with ASD
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedure
  • Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners important
  • A flexible approach and a high level creativity
