As the Lead Theatre Practitioner your key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for managing and leading the scrub team in the operating theatre for gynaecology and General Surgery
- Preparing the operating room, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures related to gynaecology and General Surgery
- Setting up and maintaining a sterile field
- Assisting surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures
- Monitoring and assessing the patient's condition throughout the surgical procedure
- Anticipating the surgeon's needs during the surgical procedure
- Supervising and mentoring junior theatre scrub nurses
- Ensuring compliance with infection control policies and procedures
- Maintaining accurate documentation of patient care
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
- A managerial certificate and at least years of senior/managerial experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in theatre scrub nursing, with experience in gynaecology and General Surgery
- Experience in leading a team of theatre scrub nurses
- Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in gynaecology and General Surgery procedures
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
- Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of infection control policies and procedures
The successful Lead Theatre Practitioner will receive an excellent salary of £54,000 per annum.
This exciting position is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours a week.
