Salary: £23,700 with progression to £25,138 per annum

The Role

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Professional Services Team in the School of Psychology.  The post holder will work closely with Professional Services colleagues and Academic leads to support the smooth and effective administration of teaching programmes in the School.  Your duties will support the full student lifecycle from registration, assessment, and progression to graduation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with key academics to provide administrative support to the Learning and Teaching function of the School supporting the full student lifecycle (from registration, through progression to completion)
  • Responsible for inputting amendments to annual documentation such as modules and regulations
  • Ensure the timely distribution of teaching materials to staff and students
  • Check and updating student data using University systems, ensuring students are appropriately registered for modules as required
  • Where appropriate, support the allocation of personal tutors to students, and for monitoring meetings between tutors and tutees using the relevant University system
  • Support the Learning & Teaching Team Leader with student attendance monitoring administration as requested
  • Transcribe or upload student marks to the relevant University systems
  • To support the organization of practical assessments and assist in setting up examination venues
  • To support the administration of processes relating to adjustments required for students with wellbeing issues or personal extenuating circumstances
  • To provide support for the arrangement of student placements and study abroad and maintaining accurate records
  • To support the collation of timetable requirements in agreed timescales and, liaising with academic staff regarding requirements, advising on constraints and practicalities of requests
  • To provide support for the allocation of research projects to students
  • To provide support for event organisation when required
  • Where appropriate to act as secretary to designated meetings, including agenda preparation and circulation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions
  • To set up evaluations on University systems for students to complete
  • To provide support for the School’s Admissions where required; this can be significant for some programmes
  • Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required.  This includes some flexibility in working hours and may include occasional weekend working (in the region of two Saturdays per year)

 

The Person

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing
  • Numeracy skills
  • Good I.T. skills, i.e. good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages
  • Familiarity with work priorities and those of colleagues
  • Working knowledge of relevant systems (SAP, NESS, MOFs, Canvas, Syllabus Plus, Evasys) (Desirable)

Qualifications

  • Grades A-C in English Language and Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent) or vocational qualifications, plus work experience in a relevant role; or Substantial relevant work experience in the unit or a comparable setting (Essential)
