About the role:

An exciting opportunity for experienced teachers or advanced practitioners who have a passion for exploring, researching and sharing teaching pedagogy to drive educational excellence.

With positions available in both College and Sixth Form settings we are looking for individuals with a depth of knowledge and experience in the different streams of FE delivery: A Levels, T Levels and AAQs

You will play a pivotal role in the success of the College through:

  • Working effectively as a member of the Quality Improvement team.
  • Role model best practice in learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Coaching, inspiring and developing all teaching staff to outstanding quality of education.
  • Promoting high standards of learning, teaching and assessment to support TBCG towards excellence in the quality of education for all.
  • Assisting new teaching staff through personalised development activities as part of am impactful induction process.
  • Teaching and assessing on the Teacher Education programmes across the group, including undertaking observations to support trainee teachers.
  • Researching and implementing innovation in learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Supporting and delivering appropriate professional development to enable outstanding quality of education.
  • Maintaining and further developing curriculum and subject specialism(s) and champion the implementation of TBCG’s Learning and Teaching Strategy.
  • Carrying out all aspects of the role in line with The Bedford College Group’s (TBCG) culture and values.
  • Ensuring the student experience is kept at the heart of everything your Directorate does.

About you:

  • Full teaching qualification (PCGE, Cert Ed, QTS)
  • Degree and/or vocational training at an equivalent level in a relevant subject
  • English and Maths GCSE (A-C) or equivalent (Level 2)
  • Commitment to work towards a Masters degree
  • History of outstanding and innovative teaching practice
  • Experience of effective coaching and mentoring of staff to effectively improve teaching practice
  • Experience of undertaking observation of learning, teaching and assessment, making accurate judgement and utilising the information to improve teaching practice
  • Proven record of experience of raising student retention and achievement rates
  • Substantial recent experience of teaching and assessing on a range of levels
  • Willingness to undertake further professional development
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
